FOSSY this year was excellent — I am walking away inspired, refreshed, and full of new ideas about how to work with open source projects and open communities of all kinds. We had an excellent lineup in the Science of Community track this year and I was fortunate to have a speaking slot.
The problem of plausible slop — low quality, AI-generated, fabricated reports that are tough to validate and (I argue) necessitate both a social and technical response — is a growing concern and one where I hope research can make a difference. Thanks to everyone who came to my talk today (slides below) and shared their ideas on how to think about this problem and to work to respond!
